If you ever do find an analysis of why Americans have such issues with having help in the house, please post it! I grew up with someone helping in the house, in Liberia, and it still makes me uncomfortable. And it also drives me nuts when housemates refuse to do the basic stuff but leave it for the people helping us out. Grr.
