Events that are worth a New York minute — and more

Here are two upcoming events that promise to be interesting and inspiring. If you’re in the City, come on by. If you’re not, tell your metro-friends.  (And come say hi to me at the Dart celebration!)

A Celebration of the Dart Society, an collective of journalists whose work focuses on trauma, broadly defined. Gloria Steinem and Jonathan Alter will honor our founder, Dr. Frank Ochberg, and I imagine there will be some remembrances of Chris Hondros, one of our crew, and of Tim Hetherington, the photojournalists killed recently in Libya. There will also be a photo exhibition, silent auction, and yummy food and drink, so come on by. Get tickets here (see the right hand sidebar). Thursday, May 12, 6-9 p.m.

No Such Thing as Tired, a benefit for the Rape Accountability and Prevention project in Haiti, run out of Port au Prince by human rights activist and lawyer Meena Jagannath. There will be food, drink, good conversation with human rights defenders — and lots of beautiful Haitian art for purchase. Get tickets here. Thursday, May 24, 7-10 pm.
